Day Seventy-One / 1.07.11

Today we started with: "The whole race is a poet that writes down / The eccentric propositions of its fate." (Wallace Stevens)
Is poetry a log of our destiny?
Is the poets job to understand/interpret our fate/destined state?

Then we watched a clip about poetry. We looked at some poets, then learned about poetry from a powerpoint slideshow.

Finally, we listened to Fix You by Coldplay, analyzed the lyrics, then wrote our own poems using repetition.

Here's one student's poem:

What's in your heart, love it
What's in your mind, think it
What's in your palm, never let go
When you're low, go high, reach
the stars, and one day you'll glow.
